Life in Inakadate・田舎館での暮らし

I wrote before that I am not a morning person. That hasn't changed. At first when I got here I was waking up early because of jet lag, but that is now long gone and now I must struggle to get up in time for work. Some days, especially days when there is a beautiful sunset, I think that is OK though.

前に「朝が苦手だ」ということをブログに書きました。それは変わりありませ ん。最初に来た時、時差ぼけのせいで、早起きの朝が多かったですが、それはもう昔の話です。今は苦労して起きて仕事に間に合わせるのが現状です。朝日を見 られないことは少し残念だと思います。しかし夕日が特にきれいな日はその美しさだけで十分だと思います。

Looking straight west from Inakadate is Mt. Iwaki. Looking straight east, you can see Mt. Hakkoda. Mt. Iwaki is the tallest mountain in Aomori and is one single peak. Mt. Hakkoda, like the Japanese name imples (written 八甲田) is made up of eight peaks. It's tall too and if you get up into it, it is beautiful too, but there is no one individual peak that you can point to and say "Isn't Mt. Hakkoda beautiful!"

田舎館からまっすぐ西を見ると岩木山が見えます。その反対側には見ると八甲田山が見えます。岩木山は青森県で一番高い山であり、せりあがるように立っている山です。それに対して八甲田山は、名前の通り、8 つの頂上がある山です。八甲田山も高くて、近くまで入っていけばとてもきれいな山々ですが、あまりにも広いため山の一ヶ所を指して、「きれいな山ですね」となかなか言えません。

So, living here in Inakadate, the sun rises over Mt. Hakkoda and sets over Mt. Iwaki . To tell you the truth, I haven't seen any sunrises over Mt. Hakkoda yet, but I can't believe they compare with the sunsets over Mt. Iwaki. Just on the other side of Iwaki is the Japan Sea and for some reason sunsets over the ocean are particularly beautiful. Put Mt. Iwaki in front of the ocean in you have all the makings for a picture perfect sunset.
つまり、田舎館に住むと、朝日は八甲田から上がってきて、夕日は岩木山の上に 沈んでいきます。実を言うと、八甲田の朝日はまだ見ていませんが、岩木山の上の夕日と比べものにならないだろうと思っています。田舎館から見る夕日はとて もきれいです。岩木山の向こう側には日本海があり、海の上の夕日が特に素晴らしく見えます。日本海の夕日の前景に岩木山のシルエットを入れると、最高の風 景になることは当然です。

Here are three that I have captured. There have been many other beautiful sunsets since I have come, but of course I didn't have a camera and couldn't take a photo.
僕が撮れた夕日の３つはここで載せます。これ以上のきれいな夕景にも何度か出会いましたが、そこ時はカメラを持ち合わせていなかったため写真を撮ることができませんでした。
